NZ spelling bee...Pinoys in NZ, have you heard about this? Have you watched this show? ... A bunch of Kiwi/NZ smart kids competing to become the Spelling Bee champion.
The first time I've watched this show, I chuckled. Naisip ko, makakalusot man lang ba sa elimination ang isang Pinoy na gaya ko? At a glance, you would think that it's that easy... Sisiw.. But what if ipa-spell na sa'yo ang pen (which they pronounce as "pin")? I bet you would say P-I-N! Would it help if the announcer would use "PEN" in a sentence just to give you a clue? Say "Grab a "PEN" and write these down..." Baka magtaka ka pa kung bakit gagawing pansulat ang PIN? Hehehe.
How about ten (which they pronounce as "tin")? Oh no, don't make me start with the word DECK at baka maiskandalo ka, lalo na kung gagamitin sa sentence na: "We have a large "DECK". Hahaha.
